triflex® R robot cable management applications

triflex® R (R for "round") is the third generation 3-axis energy chains from igus®. The multiaxial energy supply system triflex® R has been specially developed for the sophisticated 6-axis robotic applications in harsh industrial environments. Some of the important design features are: Fiber rod option for the partial reinforcement of the triflex® R, approximately ±10° Torsion per chain link, high tensile strength through ball-and-socket joint. In the meantime, the triflex® R product range consists of more than 100 components, so that all requirements of large welding robots up to the small pallet robots can be met. triflex® R has received the iF design award.

Overview of triflex® R applications:

Robot end effector

A larger working space as well as neutralised collisions between the fuselage and the robot end effector.

Palletising robot: safe 3D cable guidance triflex® with triflex energy chain

TRE.B e-chain in combination with the retraction system (TRE.RS) allow 360° rotation of axis 6

Remote controlled manipulator

Special solution with 2 reverse TR.RSE.50 retraction systems ensures compact installation space with maximum retraction length

3D printing in XXL format

Safe cable management through TRE.B with the pneumatic retraction system (RSP)

Robotic systems in automotive welding and assembly lines

Multi-axis energy supply with low-profile design.

Coating with Fanuc P350

The 3D movement of the TRC e-chain with the retraction system (RSE) even allows working overhead

Heavy-duty cable robot

Move up to 250 kg freely in space

Friction stir welding with Fanuc

The special welding method using a Fanuc equipped with TR.RS.60 retraction systems and the easy-to-fill TRE.60.087.0.B

Deburring with Yaskawa

Deburring shower trays with a fibre-rod on a Yaskawa

Cable protection

triflex® as cable protection system in corporate colour at ING Bank.

Robust 3D energy chains for industrial robots in injection-moulding systems

Here, a triflex energy chain protects the pneumatic cables that are attached to a robot on an injection-moulding machine

Four-fold load capability

Multi-dimensionally moving energy supply system for a palletising robot

Mobile laser hardening system

Reliable 3D energy-chain for a mobile laser hardening system

3D cable guidance for Schütte CNC multi-spindle automatic lathes

Great freedom of movement at more than 4.5 million cycles per year. For this task, Schütte uses triflex R 3D energy chains from the SCX series.

Multi-dimensional energy supply system for a flame cutting machine

The energy chains and cables in this flame cutting machine encounter problems such as heat, flying sparks, and extreme amounts of dirt.

Multi-directional sideloader

This sideloader solves flexible logistics tasks for wooden panels.

Robots in the automotive industry

Energy supply system for robots in car factory: two-thirds fewer failures

Assembly robots in the automotive industry

Multidimensionally moveable energy supply systems provide the highest flexibility and the longest holding times in all complex movements, and at the same time are installation friendly.

Clean room technology

The number of freely hanging cables should be bundled together. The specific movements executed by the robot stress the energy cables to a high degree.

Pharmaceutical industry

The task was to design a reliable handling and also update it optically according to the latest technology.

Multi-axis robots

Maintenance free with cables and multi-dimensional energy chains.

Satellite salvage service

An increasing amount of space junk, in other words no longer required or defect parts from space missions orbiting the earth, is also threatening current missions.

Household appliances production

Just 24 hours passed between order, delivery and installation. The entire system functions without any problem from the first day on.

Photovoltaics

Dust, sand, heat and rain: energy chain for solar technology for multi-axis movements in a photovoltaic system

Project ADVOCUT

Design of a machine tool with highly integrated mechatronic milling module.

Safe, flexible cable guidance for KUKA articulated arm robots in aircraft construction

An Airbus subsidiary specialised in CFRP processing in aircraft construction uses triflex R and E4/4 plastic energy chains for cable guidance.

Handling system

Robotic handling system for circuit boards. Flexible energy supply system in use in clean room technology.

Automatic screwdriver system

A faultless supply of screws is guaranteed by the bend protection of the triflex® R system.

Dummy robot

A very high acceleration provided an enormouschallenge for the design engineers of this robot.

Cable guide on the robot

Prior to the use of the e-chain®, the cables were fastened with cable ties. That frequently led to entangled cables and the corkscrew effect, which lets the cables become susceptible to core ruptures.

Cable guide on the industrial robot

With this industrial robot, a fixed pipe between the 3rd and 6th axis was replaced with a three-dimensional triflex® R energy chain.

Laser-welding-robot

This laser welding robot works extremely fast. Here, a very flexible and, above all, fail-safe energy supply system is required.

SCARA robot

The special feature of thisapplication is the hot chips produced during the machining process, which do not stick tothe igus® e-chain® and therefore extremely reduce the maintenance expenditure as a result.

Spot welding robot in vehicle construction

The downtimes have been drastically reduced through the use of an igus® solution for this robot in automotive construction, too.

Self-stabilizing platform "Ampelmann“

This platform, which has been given the name “Ampelmann”, is used on the open sea.

Applications with cobots

Palletising with cobots

TRE.40.058.0.B in conjunction with the UR metal clamps ensure a trouble-free energy supply on the cobot.

Quality control tests with cobots

The cable to the 2D camera and the vacuum hose are safely guided through the TRE.40.058.0.B and attached to the cobot with the UR metal clamps.

LED bulbs production with cobots

The TRE.40.058.0.B in combination with UR metal clamps ensure trouble-free cable guidance on the cobot for LED bulb production in confined spaces
