When are linear rails suitable for the format change?

If simple and rarely performed adjustment tasks are to be carried out in the packaging machine, linear tables with actuators are often too expensive. If, for example, only a few standardised packaging sizes are used in a plant, a simple linear rail system with manual clamp often offers the best price-performance ratio. In addition, manual systems are particularly reliable and can be integrated into existing systems quickly.

Driven format adjustment

When are positioning axes with hand wheel suitable for the format change?

More demanding format adjustments are carried out with torsionally rigid linear axes. These tolerate higher forces and, thanks to the hand wheel and control display, enable the precise fine adjustment of a desired control value. It also takes hardly any time to configure them and implement them in the plant. Since positioning without an actuator can still be time-consuming, this system is only worthwhile if format adjustments don't occur too often in the machine.

When are linear axes with actuator suitable for the format change?

If format adjustments recur on a regular basis and are necessary at many points in the packaging machine, positioning systems connected to actuators become indispensable. As a result of the time saved, the higher costs compared to manual systems can be quickly amortised. With the optional addition of a motor control system, several adjustment units can be positioned synchronously. As a result, errors can also be avoided.
