Economical linear systems for flexibly adjustable labellers

Reliable drylin bearings in labellers in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries

Today, reliable and efficient machines are required for the labelling of products. What matters is a combination of speed, precision and flexibility. A failure of the labeller? That would be annoying and on top of that very costly. Bluhm Systeme GmbH therefore not only develops fully automated marking systems with labels, inkjet or laser, it also relies on durable and maintenance-free drylin® linear bearing technology.

Profile

  • What was needed: drylin® linear guides
  • Requirements: A cost-effective solution was sought that would work reliably and at the same time meet all the technical requirements in the labelling unit, as well as a quick modular installation of the adjustment unit in the labeller
  • Industry: Packaging systems, food industry
  • Success for the customer: drylin® linear guides have a long service life and are insensitive to dust and dirt; high repeat accuracy, precision and speed of the drylin® components were able to shorten the batch change time of the "Tamper Evident", so that further co-operation is already planned.

Problem

Bluhm Systeme GmbH has been collaborating closely with us on its labelling systems for several years now. The impetus for this came from a customer enquiry for a labeller with flexible format adjustment. Specifically, the customer asked for a device that can apply labels in different sizes and whose positioning width can be flexibly adapted to the product to be labelled.
In search of a suitable solution for the desired adjustment unit, the manufacturer of the labelling systems came across our product range. For the manufacturer, three things in particular were crucial: they were looking for a cost-effective solution that would work reliably and at the same time meet all the technical requirements in the labelling unit.
The result turned out to be "Tamper Evident", a compact labeller, which B. can be used in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries, for example, to apply various seal labels to products of different sizes. Initially, the employees of Bluhm Systeme GmbH assembled our components for the adjustment unit themselves and installed them on the Tamper Evident. However, the assembly turned out to be very time-consuming. Instead, the manufacturer wanted to make the process more effective and speed up the installation of the adjustment unit in the Tamper Evident. Finally, personal advice regarding this was sought.

Solution

In order to simplify the process for Bluhm and shorten assembly times, the customer was promptly offered a ready-to-install format adjustment.
The drylin® linear guides used not only give maximum flexibility to the Tamper Evident with its adjustment unit when customising the labeller, they are also resistant to dust and dirt, making the labeller also suitable for harsh environments. In addition, the linear guides operate without additional lubrication, since their sliding elements contain incorporated lubricants. This not only saves the user maintenance time later on, but also costs for maintenance and lubricants.
The long service life of drylin® linear guides enables Bluhm Systeme GmbH to supply its customers with a top quality product. With the repeatability, precision and speed of the drylin® components, the batch change time of the Tamper Evident could be reduced. The labeller can apply 500 seal labels per minute. Here, every second that you can save on the adjustment pays off. This is why the complete automation of label changeover and format setting is a topic that is consistently pursued at Bluhm. It saves additional time and reduces sources of error. Further co-operation is already planned for the future, as demand for the machines continues to grow.
