igubal® rod ends

Rod ends made of high-performance plastics

igubal® rod ends are corrosion-free and can be used without problems even under harsh conditions. In humid or wet environments, they are resistant to weak acids and alkalis. Like all igus® products, our rod end bearings are also lubrication-free and also significantly more cost-effective than comparable metallic solutions.
Ideal to use if you need to reduce weight, require a lubrication and corrosion resistant part and when you need a part that is high ridgity.

Tested in the our laboratory!

With their tribological specifications, our polymer plain bearings fulfil the highest requirements for a long service life without additional lubrication. To achieve this quality, we carry out over 135 trillion test movements per year in our plain bearing test laboratory spread over 250m².We test and develop materials for our rod ends under real conditions with the aim of providing the best plastic solution for your application.

The polymer rod ends are optimised for use in motion and their specifications open up new scope in design. Focus of the tests are push/pull forces, low coefficient of friction, wear, abrasion and driving forces at various speeds and bearing loads.

When to use them

  • If you want to save weight
  • For rotating, oscillating and linear movements
  • If high-frequency oscillations/vibrations occur
  • If silent operation is required
  • If you need an electrically insulating part
  • If corrosion resistance is required
  • In combination with pneumatic cylinders and gas struts
  • When chemical resistance is required
  • If high rigidity is required
  • If they should be detectable

When not to use them

  • When I have temperatures above +80°C
  • If rotation speeds of more than 0.5m/s are to be achieved
  • When really high tensile and axial forces occur
  • When applications must be implemented with hydraulic cylinders
  • If diameters above 30mm are required
