PROFINET stands for Process Field Network and, like every Industrial Ethernet standard, uses the TCP/IP and IT standards, allowing end-to-end use in manufacturing and process automation. Generally speaking, PROFINET fits into the Industrial Ethernet standard alongside bus systems such as Sercos, EtherCat, and CC-Link IE. The advantage of such networks, apart from potential real-time capability, is the modularly structured concept which allows the user to quickly and easily choose the functionality himself. This makes it possible to design the type of cyclic data exchange across all PROFINET devices to meet the ever-increasing speed requirements and establish countless diagnostic capabilities in real time. The seamless integration of the other fieldbus systems with a PROFINET interface should not be underestimated.

"Our special cleaning process with the Robot Sword Brush, which is the heart of our technical centre, is used without interruption by many well-known manufacturers in the automotive industry. Originally, all robot cables had been protected against mechanical damage at the factory. But that didn't work. They were constantly cracked or had worn through, with the result that the entire test system came to a standstill. That's why we were looking for a technical solution that would reliably and permanently protect the various cables".

"Our compact cameras are geared to the central customer advantage of easy installation in practice. We pay attention to the highest quality. Starting from a length of 5m, we only specify the industry-compatible bus cables from igus® for perfect data transmission. Conventional cables could not withstand the mechanical and electrical stresses in the long term but then we came across the chainflex® cables."
