There are models in almost every product line and installation size, either with a lead screw or toothed belt. Application examples
Teaching the order picking robot how to see
Magazino, a start-up company in Munich, is developing new ideas for automated order picking. A new kind of pick&place station for small parts can detect, grasp and place packaged items extremely quickly thanks to 3D camera technology and "fast" software. On the three linear axes of the system, igus® drylin® ZLW toothed belt axes are used. With regard to the bearings as well, the Magazino developers are also choosing products from the igus® modular engineering kit.

Wood scanner
Linear bearings from igus® are used to position camera bodies from the new “Easyscan System”, which is used to examine wood products. It is used to test wood products. The environment is very dusty. The camera bodies are protected, but should be moveable. Conventional ball systems are not suitable because they require lubrication, which may lead to impurity of the wooden plates. Now, drylin® W and dryspin® products are installed, which has made maintenance unnecessary.
Packaging
Candles shall be transported to a position on the conveyor band where they will be packed. Parts are needed that are not affected by paraffin. In addition, they shall be reliable, lightweight, lubrication- and maintenance-free. Conventional systems with recirculating ball bearing guides got dirty quickly, which interrupted the operation of the system. The problem could be solved with drylin® ZLW linear guides and iglidur® plain bearings – the machine operates without any problems.
