Quick movements
Cable robot
This year‘s Gold vector winner is a
cable robot used in automated high-bay
shelving systems. Such intra-logistic
systems are a rapidly growing market.
After all, they can be used to reduce both
warehousing and thus production costs. The system developed by the University
of Duisburg-Essen is based on a transport
platform with grippers which moves
around the room via eight wire ropes
tensioned in parallel. To prevent cables
becoming tangled during the fast
horizontal, vertical and diagonal movements,
the data and supply lines are
routed in an igus® e-chain®.
