In the doors, there is only a limited amount of installation space, which is why cables have to be bent a lot and can therefore wear fast accordingly. To prevent this, chainflex cables with a TPE jacket and a special core alloying are used. These extremely robust cables have been developed especially for extremely small bend radii and torsional movements and have a 36-month guarantee.
In order to ensure optimum cable protection despite the non-stop opening and closing of the doors, E2 micro e-chains are used. Thanks to the modular system they can be adapted to the application and are suitable for the smallest installation spaces. A special design of the cable supply systems allows very lightweight and quiet movements. The e-chain in combination with chainflex cables is a very robust combination.
The dryspin lead screw systems are used to open and close doors. Their self-lubricating high-performance polymer lead screw nuts eliminate the need for extra lubrication, reducing maintenance and cleaning costs. igus stepper motors are used as drives for the lead screw systems. E2 micro e-chains, chainflex cables and dryspin lead screw systems are also used in the sliding step under the door because they can be used without any problem in dirt, road salt and rain. The functionality of the dryspin high helix lead screws is still guaranteed at -40°C and extreme dirt.
In addition to entry doors for passengers in trams, regional and express trains, doors for driver's cabs, the machine room and emergency exits are equipped with igus components. Even if they are not very highly frequented, their functionality must be guaranteed at all times. In driver's cabs and machine room doors, plain bearings and thrust washers are used, among others. With foldable doors the flawless functionality is particularly important. Here, iglidur plain bearings are also used to avoid additional or even inadequate lubrication.
