What is a dual shaft stepper motor?
A dual shaft stepper motor is a type of stepper motor with two output shafts. These motors feature a rotating shaft on both sides, providing greater flexibility in connecting and driving mechanical components. With one motor, two mechanical loads, e.g. two parallel linear axes, can be driven. The dual-shaft stepper motor is space-saving and reduces costs. A hand wheel can also be mounted on the second shaft end, which can be used to turn the motor by hand. There are also various possible applications for this.
Dual-shaft stepper motors are primarily used in industry to mount double-axis drives in a space-saving manner. In classic double-axis drives, the motor is installed on the side, which often leads to space problems. In designs with a dual-shaft stepper motor, the motor is located between the axes so as not to waste any installation space. The hand wheel mounted on the second shaft end can be used for pin point adjustment of a linear axis. Furthermore, with a self-locking lead screw axis, a mechanism can be adjusted in the event of a power failure. This is particularly necessary for entrances or doors.
