Lightweight and robust -
pillow block bearings in an inspection trolley for seedlings

  • What was needed: igubal® fixed flange bearings and pillow block bearings and a drylin® telescopic rail
  • Requirements: lightweight, robust bearings for the portable inspection trolley
  • Industry: agricultural engineering
  • Success through collaboration: maintenance-free, reliable bearings that remain free of corrosion and friction
Finbin, a Finnish company, is developing a rubbish bin that compacts waste with solar energy. The unique system greatly reduces both operating costs and the ecological footprint. The patented technology ensures that waste is compressed at a ratio of 6:1. Another advantage is that
the intelligent rubbish bin autonomously notifies the waste management system of its fill level. The bin functions as an independent unit for public use.

igubal® application example: inspection trolley for seedlings Students at France's Institut catholique d'arts et métiers have developed an automated solution for manufacturers of agricultural machinery.

Problem

Manufacturer staff have so far had to assess their customers' fields manually to see if the automated sowing machines are placing seedlings reliably. The inspection trolley required for automation must also be robust and lightweight.

Solution

The automated solution consists of a trolley with positioning sensors that measure the distances between seedlings. The engineers use igubal® polymer fixed flange bearings (EFOM) for the arms with which the device is pushed like a wheelbarrow and igubal® pillow block bearings for the lid. The three drawers can be telescoped with drylin® guides and double rails (WSQ).
