DESINA - the machine tool standard

DESINA is a standard intended to bring about uniformity in mechanical engineering. Well-known machine tool manufacturers created DESINA, setting a standard for machine tools. The standardisation applies to electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic installation, which is to be simplified to accelerate installation and maintenance work. DESINA specifies the individual components for this.
The aim is to save costs in assembly and monitoring by implementing the decentralised installation concepts and using the specified components.

In order to meet this standard, we manufacture our chainflex cable according to the recommendation of the Association of German Machine Tool Factories (VDW). More than 250 cables already have this standard. The different colours are used to standardise components, interfaces, and connection systems. As a result, our chainflex cables standardise the fluid and electrical installation of systems and machines.These requirements are as follows:
Servo cable, shielded: orange, RAL 2003
Measuring system cable, shielded: green, RAL 6018
Fieldbus, hybrid fieldbus cable, shielded: violet, RAL 4001
Sensor/actuator cable, unshielded: yellow, RAL 1021
Power cable, unshielded: black, RAL 9005
Control cable, unshielded: grey, RAL 7040
This outer jacket must be resistant to the coolants and lubricants used in industry. The structure of the cable must be designed for use on machines in harsh environments. DESINA provides for a shield for certain cable types only.
